Cathedral of the Madeleine
Sacraments
Practical information for celebrating the sacraments at the Cathedral.
Grace and Christian life
Marriage
Wedding celebrations are available at the Cathedral when at least one member of the couple is Catholic. Weddings are celebrated on Saturdays, except during Advent and Lent, at 11:00 AM or 1:30 PM.
Suggested donation: $1,200 for couples living in Utah and $1,800 for couples coming from out of state. The donation includes the services of the organist, cantor, wedding coordinator, and the Cathedral, and must be paid in full to reserve a date.
Dates before 2027 are not currently available. The first step is an interview with a priest. Contact Fr. Gray by making an appointment to begin the scheduling process.
Marriage preparation
Cathedral parishioners, or nonresidents who have been registered and active at the Cathedral for eighteen months, may complete marriage preparation through the Cathedral. Others should contact the priest at their own parish. Couples ordinarily complete an Engaged Encounter weekend and a Natural Family Planning class.
Documents and scheduling
Required documents include the pre-nuptial questionnaire, freedom affidavits, newly issued baptismal certificates, any needed dispensations or annulment documentation, and a Utah marriage license obtained within thirty days before the wedding.
A wedding date is not reserved until the donation is paid in full. Rehearsals and weddings must begin on time because only sixty minutes is allotted and other Cathedral events follow.
Quinceañera
Quinceañeras are celebrated individually on Saturdays, except during Advent and Lent, at 11:00 AM or 1:30 PM.
Suggested donation: $1,000, including the organist, cantor, Quinceañera coordinator, and Cathedral. The donation must be made in full to reserve a date.
Dates before Fall 2027 are not currently available. Contact Fr. Gray by making an appointment to begin the scheduling process.
As preparation, the young person must attend a Quinceañera class. The class may be taken at any parish. For the Cathedral class, contact Socorro Mendez through the Cathedral office.
